FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
FATHER JOE’S VILLAGE ISSUES STATEMENT OF SUPPORT FOR NEWYORKSAYSTHANKYOU.ORG
CROSS-COUNTRY RELIEF DRIVE
Updated Needs List, Cross-Country Effort has Reached Washington, PA
NOVEMBER 6,
2003 -- 4:30PM EST/1:30PM PST -- SAN DIEGO, CA and WASHINGTON, PA (JUST SOUTHWEST OF PITTSBURGH, PA). Father Joe’s Villages (www.svdpv.org) has been at the forefront of
the emergency outreach efforts to aid victims of the most devastating fires in California history. The needs of families displaced by
the fires continue to change. The following is a list of items Father Joe’s
Villages is currently accepting to help victims of the disaster:
• Gift cards from home-improvement, clothing and general retail stores (Lowe’s,
Target, Wal-Mart)
• Batteries – all sizes
• Flashlights
• Rakes, shovels, wheel barrows and picks
• New clothes for children and adults
• Portable gas generators
• Cash
Father Joe’s Villages would like to thank Evan Parness, the 5-year-old New York
boy whose caring and compassion was the catalyst for the NewYorkSaysThankYou.org
cross-country outreach drive for victims of the California fires.
We understand that they have reached Washington, PA just outside Pittsburgh and are parked at the Spring Hill Suites Marriott Hotel, 16 Trinity Point Drive, Washington, PA which through divine intervention is across the street from a shopping center that includes a Wal-Mart, Target, Lowe’s, and Sam’s Club and who have already demonstrated their willingness to help.
We encourage the Pittsburgh media to alert the local community of the NewYorkSaysThankYou.Org caravan status, location, and important mission to expedite relief to the California wildfire victims.
